Shauna Griffith began her screen journey at age five, landing a leading role in the short film Pluck. Over the years she appeared in television dramas, feature films and commercials — including projects such as Amber (RTE), the Jim Sheridan–linked Dreamhouse, and the feature film Life’s a Breeze. Growing up in a family immersed in drama and theatre — her mother’s running of a long-established stage school — meant Shauna spent her childhood and adolescence deeply rooted in performance and training.
As she matured, Shauna’s passion for storytelling and for helping performers shine gradually shifted her focus from acting to casting. Her time studying social sciences — and later working abroad in recruitment — revealed how she could combine her love for the business side of production with her creative instincts. On returning to Ireland, this fusion of skills found its expression in founding SGCASTING, where she now works full-time as Casting Director.
Under Shauna’s leadership, SG Casting has taken on a wide variety of projects — from national TV and film dramas to commercials and short films. Among her recent credits as casting director are short films such as Remote Strutting, Bunker Baby, and I Can’t Go On, as well as the TV Series, Showkids for RTE.
What drives Shauna’s approach to casting is empathy, insight and a deep respect for actors. Having herself experienced the challenges of auditioning, she believes strongly in creating a safe, encouraging and professional environment — one where actors feel supported even if they don’t get a role. She loves discovering fresh talent and seeing how the right performer can bring a character to life, enriching the story in ways even the script may not have anticipated.
